I can't post what I paid for it because someone would tell my husband, but I'm selling it for $200.00. I'm computer illiterate and can't figure out how to post pictures.. Gravestone dedication at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery

The Lawton-Gordon-Evans Brigade Chapter #2637 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy is sponsoring a gravestone dedication service at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Waynesville at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 7, 2010, and will be assisted by Capt. James Knox “Seaboard Guards” SCV Camp #2022 and Re-Enactors. Com. Tom Lavender is expected to emcee the program.
The Confederate gravestones to be dedicated are those of William Thomas Bennett (1833-1907) who was in Company N, 26 Georgia Infantry, and Henry P. Grantham (1843-1914) who was in Company A, 29 Georgia Volunteer Infantry.
William Thomas Bennett and his wife, the former Jerusha Cox, had the following children: Mary Ann (m. Matthew Strickland), Richard Gideon (m. Mary Jane Spivey), William Henry (m. Sarah Lee), Thomas J. (m. Rachel Amelia Popwell), Eliza E. (m. William Richmond ”Bill” Gibson), Nancy Jane (m. Roan Norman Strickland), Rhoda E. (m. Thomas E. Edgy), and Ella J. (m. Benjamin C. Popwell, Sr.),
Henry P. Grantham (never married) was the son of Thomas James Grantham and his wife, the former Harriett Spell who lived to be 104. His siblings were: Elizabeth, William, Nancy Ann, Mary, Seletha Ann, Francis Marie “Buddy” (m. Susan Geiger), Rachel, James Middleton (m. Mary Louvinia Ryals), Thomas M., and Harriett. According to a Wayne County Census, Henry had a ward shown as Isabel Joiner.
Refreshments will be served immediately after the dedication. Please bring a chair. We ask the descendants to please contact families living away so that they will also be able to attend this historic event. Everyone is invited to attend.
Directions to Pilgrims Rest Cemetery: From the direction of Hwy. 82 and Old Waynesville Rd. (CR 168S), go by the Waynesville Elementary School, go south 0.5 mile. Stay to the right on the Old Waynesville Rd. and proceed 0.9 mile. Turn right, staying on Old Waynesville Rd. and go 0.3 mile. Cemetery is on the right.

Trailer for rent......

Family in need

Well two weeks after we got there the government put a bunch of new taxes on them so they all packed up and moved to Texas. After that everyone there was searching for jobs, So there for we tried for three months to get a job and no luck at all! We had to sell everything we owned to come back home to Georgia. the only things we brought back was our cloths, pictures, and ourselves. We both have jobs now and are getting our own place again. We would really appreciate it if anyone could help out! We are needing living room furniture, decor, curtains, dishes,a dresser preferably white for our son's room, and any basic things that anyone is willing to give to us or sell for pretty cheap! To anyone who helps out, Thank you very much! It will be so appreciated!

Please come. We need YOU. Remember we are now writing two books; Story of Brantley County, Vol. 2 and a Confederate Book. We are still having writing workshops at the library at the Confederate Soldiers Park on Wednesday from 10-2 for anyone that may need help with their stories.
Please be reminded also that your dues may be due. If you are unsure about your time to pay, just look at your mailing label on Armadilla Tracks.

BRANTLEY COUNTY REC NIGHT.....SAT JAN 16th

The Athletic Department and BCHS Basketball teams would like to invite all the Brantley County Recreation Players and Coaches to Saturday night's game against St Vincent's and Benedictine of Savannah during halftime of the boys game. The Coach and his/her team will then walk around the court to be introduced to HERON fans during halftime right after 50-50 winner is announced.
When the second quarter of the boys game starts line up in the hallway, please line up with the smallest age divisions to the oldest between the gym and main school with your team. If the Coach can't be there, please have an alternate parent to lead your group. They will line up turn right and go counter clockwise around the gym floor, waving to fans and making for a great photo opportunity for Mom.
There will be a list of players at the pay desk, players will be allowed in free, parents are asked to pay.
Recreation play starts Saturday January 23rd, "uniforms aren't available yet we know, but that's okay we want smiling faces and promotion of Brantley County sports!
Only three home games left, one there will be no room, and the other two fans may become ugly and unruly and and don't want kids in middle of any possible controversy. And can't do anything like this during region tournament play.
Know it's short notice, know some folks don't agree, but someone had to take the bull by the horns!

The five Confederates are William Spencer Ammons, Sr., Samuel Mills Drury, Jr., Samuel Mills Drury, Sr., Sherrod “Sheard” Sheffield Kelly, and James William Spell, Sr.
William Spencer Ammons, Sr. (1846-1923) was married to the former Gatsey Highsmith. Their children were: Henry Everett, John B., James Marion “Jim,” Riley M., Mary E., Charles R., Gatsey E., William Spencer, Jr., and Joseph L.
Samuel Mills Drury, Jr. (1847-1930) was married to the former Lou Dycie “Ludicy” Ammons. Their children were: Lilla Roseline, George Wesley, Frances Elizabeth (Hillary), Samuel Abner (infant), Ella Isabelle (Kizer), Hattie Lou Dycie (Kelly), Adoph Mills (twin), Sarah Ann (twin, infant) and Jefferson Woodfin.
Samuel Mills Drury, Sr., (1815-1890) was married to the former Sarah Ann Harrell. Their children were: Sarah Emily, George Bates, Samuel Mills, Jr., Julia Francine (Anderson), James H. (died young), Mary Georgia (Lewis, and Henry Edward.
Sherrod “Sheard” Sheffield Kelly (1834-1904) was married to the former Charity Martha Ann “Annie” Lewis. Their children were: John Caswell, Jessie Lewis, Nancy Elizabeth, Charity Mae (Allen), Charles Clifton, James Robert, Sherrod Van Buren, and Chester Arthur.
James William Spell, Sr. (1845-1918) was married to the former Gatsey Jemima Ammons. Their children were: John R. “Johnnie,” Fanny L. (twin), Francis K. “Frank” (twin), James William “Willie,” Jr., Alexander, George Stephen, Kate M., Daniel W., and Mary Bell.
Directions to Ammons-Warner Cemetery: From US Hwy. 82 at Atkinson, go north on State Road 110 for about 1.1 miles, turn left on Warner’s Landing Road (CR188); go 0.2 mile; turn right on Sandy Loop (CR361) and the cemetery is 0.1 mile on right.
